President Jonathan officially suspends the introduction of N5,000 note

The Special Adviser to the President on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati, disclosed the development to State House correspondents in Abuja.
Abati told journalists that Jonathan’s latest disposition to the issue was based on the need for more “enlightenment and consultation”.
He said, “The introduction of the new note is being suspended for now to enable the CBN do more enlightenment on the issue.Yes, President Jonathan has directed that the implementation of the new N5,000 note be suspended for now.
“This is to enable the apex bank to do more in terms of enabling Nigerians understand why it proposed it in the first place. So, for now, the full implementation is on hold.”

The President's earlier approval of the plan by Governor Lamido Sanusi of the Central Bank of Nigeria to introduce the jumbo note had triggered criticism, condemnation and even some street protests.

The president's aide clarified that the policy was merely being suspended, not abandoned.

According to the aide, the decision to suspend the policy is to enable the administration to adequately inform Nigerians about the rationale behind the decision to introduce the new note.

The two chambers of Nigeria's legislation had passed motions calling on the president to shelve the plan to introduce the N5,000.

In a meeting hastily requested by President he failed to convince both Senate President David Mark and House Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal to persuade members of the National Assembly to drop their objection to the policy.

Vice Chancellor of ESUT kidnapped by gunmen

An eye witness said, the gunmen blocked the gate with their car as soon as the VC’s convoy arrived.
“They jumped out and started shooting into the air and six others appeared from nowhere and attacked the convoy. They shot and deflated the four tyres of the police van escorting the VC.” the witness said.

Unbelivable: Eating egg yolk is as dangerous as smoking

Scientists have unscrambled the truth about eggs - eating the yolk is almost as bad as smoking for people at risk of heart disease. The problem lies in an increased risk of the hardening of the arteries, known as atherosclerosis.

It is a disorder of the arteries where plaques, aggravated by cholesterol, form on the inner arterial wall.

Egg lovers in Nigeria and all across the world can start looking for substitutes following the new development.

Four members of Congo's Olympic team missing

Four members of Congo’s Olympic team were said to have gone missing in London yesterday as thousands of their fellow London 2012 athletes and officials flew home. Their disappearance took the number of African athletes and delegates attending London 2012 who have vanished from their camps or sought political asylum in Britain to 15. Immigration officials expect that number to increase sharply when athletes’ special London 2012 visas expire in November
A UN-run radio station in Congo said Cedric Mandembo, who competed for the central African country in judo, disappeared after the closing ceremony and has not been reachable on his mobile phone. He lost his match after 49 seconds and is said to have left the Olympic Village without saying where he was going. He had been due to fly home last night. Congo judo coach Ibula Masengo, boxing trainer Blaise Bekwa, and national technical director of athletics Guy Nkita had also gone missing, it was claimed. They too were said to have left the Olympic Village with their luggage. The Home Office declined to comment on the individual cases. Congo team officials were ‘out of contact’ returning home while no one was available for comment at the country’s London embassy. The disappearances come at a hugely sensitive time for the Government after the success of the Olympics and with the Paralympics due to begin in two weeks.
It follows fears from immigration staff that up to 2 per cent of Olympic visitors from some continents may claim refuge in the UK in the months after the Games.
Authorities in Cameroon, which is regarded as one of the more stable countries in Africa, have accused the boxers of wanting to be economic migrants and say they should have returned home with other athletes. But the Olympians, who absconded from their Stratford, East London village last week, told the BBC they had been threatened and wanted a sponsor to help them stay in Britain

Mass shooting at Colorado theater.....12 people dead 50 injured.

0720_dkr
A lone gunman dressed in riot gear burst into a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., at a midnight showing of the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises" and methodically began shooting patrons, killing at least 12 people and injuring at least 50.
The suspect, James Holmes, 24, of Aurora, was caught by police in the parking lot of the Century 16 Movie Theaters, nine miles outside Denver, after police began receiving dozens of 911 calls at 12:39 a.m. MT. Police said the man appeared to have acted alone.
Witnesses in the movie theater said Holmes crashed into the auditorium through an emergency exit about 30 minutes into the film, set off a smoke bomb, and began shooting. Holmes stalked the aisles of the theater, shooting people at random, as panicked movie-watchers in the packed auditorium tried to escape, witnesses said.
"You just smelled smoke and you just kept hearing it, you just heard bam bam bam, non-stop. The gunman never had to reload. Shots just kept going, kept going, kept going," one witness told ABC News.
"I'm with coworkers and we're on the floor praying to God we don't get shot, and the gunshots continue on and on, and when the sound finally stopped, we started to get up and people were just bleeding," another theatergoer said.

Police said 10 victims died inside the theater, while dozens of others were taken to local hospitals, including a child as young as 6 years old.
A San Diego woman identifying herself as James Holmes's mother spoke briefly with ABC News this morning.
She had awoken unaware of the news of the shooting and had not been contacted by authorities. She immediately expressed concern that her son may have been involved.
"You have the right person," she said.
"I need to call the police," she added. "I need to fly out to Colorado."
Holmes was wearing a bullet-proof vest and riot helmet and carrying a gas mask, rifle, and handgun, when he was apprehended, according to police. Holmes mentioned having explosives stored, leading police to evacuate his entire North Aurora apartment complex and search the buildings early this morning.
The highly-anticipated third installment of the Batman triology opened to packed auditoriums around the country at midnight showings on Friday morning, and features a villain named Bane who wears a bulletproof vest and gas mask. Trailers for the movie show explosions at public events including a football game. Though many moviegoers dressed in costume to attend the opening night screening, police have made no statements about any connection between the gunman's motives and the movie.

Hehehehehe! We women have a higher IQ than men...Hmmm! Loving my gender on this one

Who is smarter, girls or boys? It's a perennial battle of the sexes that rages in schoolyards and over dinner tables across the nation. According new research by James Flynn, a world-renowned expert on IQ testing, the answer is that women are starting to edge out their male counterparts in the brains department.
Flynn examined data from western European countries, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Argentina and Estonia and found that for the first time in a century of testing, women are scoring higher than men on IQ examinations. Until recently, women's scores lagged behind men's by as much as five percent leading some scientists to claim that men were inherently more intelligent than women. Over the decades, men's and women's scores have both improved, but women's have surged more dramatically. "The full effect of modernity on women is only just emerging," Flynn told the Sunday Times of London.
IQ, or "intelligence quotient" tests were developed in the early 20th Century. They rate a subject's aptitude for solving problems and understanding concepts compared with the general population. Tests generally examine language ability, mathematic ability, memory, and spatial ability. A score of over 130 indicates exceptional intelligence with the median score being about 100.
While multi-tasking has gotten a bad wrap in some psychological literature, Flynn speculates that the demands put on women's brains when they juggle work and family may have helped boost their scores. Another possibility he cites is that women have a higher potential for intelligence--which is emerging as they are given more opportunities to compete in the world outside the home. Flynn is currently working on a book on the subject of gender and IQ and says more research needs to be done in order to fully understand the results.
In the United States, this research coincides with statistics that show women now make up more than half of college undergraduates and hold more advanced degrees than men.

It's ur boy Wizzy!!!!!! HBD to Wizkid.....Don't we all love him

Hey guys here are some of the careers for people who don't like to interact with other people ....In short...for introverts

Not a people person? That shouldn't be a problem in these careers.

By Jennifer Berry
Do you long for a job where you can work in peace and quiet, without people constantly bugging you?
If you're not a people person, don't feel like you have to pretend to be one to get a good job, says Nancy Ancowitz, a business communication coach and author of "Self-Promotion for Introverts®: The Quiet Guide to Getting Ahead."
"After all, who wants to interact with a waiter, salesperson, or doctor who would be happier playing the professional equivalent of Solitaire?" Ancowitz asks. "Not everyone thrives in a customer-facing role - particularly the customers you're facing if you're not a people person."
The good news is that you don't necessarily have to be a people person to thrive in every career.
Keep reading to learn about some great options for people who just want to be left alone.

Career #1 - Accountant

Are you happier focusing on spreadsheets and actually getting things done versus listening to coworkers or customers talking all day? Consider career options in accounting.
"As an accountant or auditor, concentrating on solitary tasks involving financial records, budgets, and tax code is far more important than being a social butterfly or showman," Ancowitz says.
In fact, accountants often spend their days organizing and maintaining financial records, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. You might also study your company's financial statements to make sure they're correct, or think about new ways for your company to reduce costs and improve profits.

Education Options: The Department of Labor says "most accountants and authors need at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field."

Career #2 - Technical Writer

Wish you could be left alone with your thoughts a little more - and deal with people a little less? Consider pursuing a career as a technical writer and you just might get your wish.
"Many writers live a rich life inside their own heads," Ancowitz says. "Depending on what type of writing you do, your need to interact with the outside world may be more dependent on how well you stock your fridge than a burning need to 'party.'"
As a technical writer, for example, you might write instruction or operating manuals, says the U.S. Department of Labor. That could mean spending your days gathering and organizing technical information, and figuring out how to explain complicated products or processes so customers can understand them better.
Education Options: According to the Department of Labor, a college degree is usually required. You might want to consider earning it in journalism, English, or communications, as these are degrees employers generally prefer, says the Department.

Career #3 - Graphic Designer

Do you dream of spending your days alone with your creativity, uninterrupted by noisy coworkers or customers? Consider pursuing a career as a graphic designer and your creativity might get to flow without interruption.
"The rest of the world mainly uses words to express themselves and visuals are an afterthought," Ancowitz says. "But for [graphic designers], visuals are your mother tongue and words may not flow so easily. You may enjoy lots of downtime so you can allow your creative thoughts to swirl around your head."
However, Ancowitz warns that some offices may come with coworkers that "may distract you from your creative process," so you'll want to pick and choose where you work wisely.
So what exactly do graphic designers do? According to the U.S. Department of Labor, they often need to figure out what clients need and how to best communicate their message visually. As part of the job, they might create logos or develop layouts for advertisements.
Education Options: The Department of Labor says graphic designers usually need a bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field. The Department also notes that you'll need a good portfolio when it comes time to look for work - so make sure to focus on developing a strong body of work while you're in school.

Career #4 - Software Developer

Do you prefer the reliability of machines to the unpredictability of people? You might want to consider pursuing a career as a software engineer.
"A lot of your work will probably entail sitting for hours on end at your computer rather than sitting at meetings all day," Ancowitz says.
And if you really want a workspace you're comfortable with, you'll probably be thrilled with this bit of news: Many software developers are able to telecommute to work, says the U.S. Department of Labor. This could be perfect for people who don't like the distractions of a busy office.
In terms of what you'll be doing, the Department of Labor says that as a software engineer, you might spend your days designing applications or even testing your software to make sure it works correctly.
Education Options: Software developers generally have a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field - though a degree in math might also be okay for some employers, according to the Department.

Career #5 - Medical Laboratory Technician

Are you happiest when you know exactly what you need to do, following specific instructions to the letter? You might want to consider a career as a medical laboratory technician.
"Medical lab technicians often work with one patient at a time as well as behind-the-scenes," Ancowitz says. "This job may be appealing to you because it doesn't entail campaign speeches, back-to-back meetings, or nonstop schmoozing."
In fact, one of the things you might do as a medical lab technician working under the supervision of a medical laboratory technologist or laboratory manager is collect samples of body fluids, tissue, or other substances from patients - and then perform tests on them, says the U.S. Department of Labor.
Education Options: You'll usually need a medical laboratory technician associate's degree or certificate to get started in this field, says the Department of Labor. Check and see if your state requires medical laboratory technicians to get licensed or certified as well.

Career #6 - Information Security Analyst

Do you like the idea of thwarting criminals before they can cause major damage - but don't want to deal with people face to face? Consider preparing to pursue a career as an information security analyst.
"This is another career that is great for those who like to remain behind the scenes," Ancowitz says. She notes that this could be perfect for someone who's "got the mind of a sleuth, the energy of a watchdog, and the patience and persistence to solve complex technical problems."
The U.S. Department of Labor says information security analysts can use firewalls and data encryption programs to protect their company's computer systems from cyber attacks. You may also spend a lot of time keeping up-to-date on the latest cyber attacks and new security technology.
Education Options: The Department of Labor says information security analysts generally need a bachelor's degree in computer science, programming, or another computer-related field. The Department also notes that employers prefer analysts who've earned their master's in business administration (MBA) in information systems.

Festus Keyamo on Otedola Vs Farouk Lawan

From the various reports, Press releases and statements made by all the actors involved in this saga, certain undisputable facts have emerged:
(1) There was definite communication between Farouk Lawan and Femi Otedola (both by telephone and face-to-face) in respect of the offer and acceptance of bribe money concerning the investigation by the House Committee probing the fuel subsidy scam. The question of who initiated a relationship is completely irrelevant when determining the guilt or otherwise of the giver and taker of bribe money.

(2) The sum of $620,000 dollars out of a grand total of $3million price tag actually exchanged hands between Otedola and Lawan. No party is disputing this fact.
(3) Otedola involved the State Security Service (SSS) and the scene was recorded when the money was handed over to Lawan to prove that he was pressured to part with the money.
(4) Even though Lawan claims he collected the money to expose Otedola, he (Lawan) did not involve any law-enforcement agency when collecting the money. QUESTION: So how on earth did Farouk Lawan ever hope to later convince anyone that those dollars came from Otedola when Otedola's name is not written on the dollars? How did he ever hope to "expose" him?
(5) A few hours after collecting the dollars, Farouk Lawan stood up on the floor of the House and, instead of exposing Otedola, he was actually shielding him by convincing his colleagues to remove Otedola's company name from the list of indicted companies in the Report. That was the point that Lawan was expected to tell the world that he just collected bribe money, and like has been done in the past, spill the money on the floor of the House. He did not do so.
(6) It was not until the scandal broke out in the Press that Farouk Lawan did something. He first denied ever collecting money and said he did not go to Otedola's house and that if there is any such video, it must have been doctored.
(7) Less than 24 hours later, Lawan sang a different tune. He now said he actually went to Otedola's house to collect money, but it was to "expose" Otedola.
( The only "expose" Lawan claimed he did was to write a hand-written note to Honourable Adams Jagaba, Chairman House Committee on Narcotics and Financial Crimes, to purport to hand over the bribe money to him. Honourable Jagaba has since denied that this ever happened. QUESTION: WHY DID FAROUK LAWAN NOT APPROACH ONE SINGLE LAW-ENFORCEMENT AGENCY WITH THE BRIBE MONEY?
(9) The bribe money that is the all-important evidence to "nail" Otedola cannot be produced by Farouk Lawan now despite repeated demands by the Police. QUESTION: How come Farouk Lawan treated his all-important evidence with so much levity that he did not make Honourable Jagaba to acknowledge receiving the dollars in writing when he purportedly handed it over to him?
(10) On the other hand, it has since emerged that Femi Otedola kept all his audio and video evidence intact and has decided to release them piecemeal to the public.
From the above sequence of undisputed facts, it is only a hired goon, mischief maker, or a complete fool that will not easily come to a definite conclusion in this on-going disgraceful and shameful episode rocking the National Assembly: Farouk Lawan collected bribe purportedly on behalf of his Committee to doctor his report but somewhere along the line the operation, like most robbery incidents, went terribly wrong. All the drama playing out now cuts the picture of a destroyed, disgraced and thoroughly embarrassed Farouk Lawan clinging on so desperately to anything to save his finished image and political career.
I use the phrase "National Assembly" advisedly because, even though it had sought to distance itself from the whole episode, it is undisputable that the bribe was solicited for and was offered to a Committee of the National Assembly which was doing an assignment of the National Assembly. Farouk Lawan only collected the money on behalf of the said Committee. Whether he gave to other members is another matter altogether.
However, the taped conversations between Otedola and Lawan only confirm what both parties actually agree took place: that they negotiated payment of bribe money several times by telephone. The only point of divergence is that both claim the negotiations were sting operations on the other. But while Otedola has evidence of his sting, Farouk Lawan has none.
By denying his obvious voice on those tapes, Farouk Lawan has made another u-turn: he is giving the impression that he never spoke to Otedola on telephone whereas he had earlier confirmed that there were several phone conversations between them and that he has call-logs to prove this. So, question to Lawan: during those phone conversations, what were they talking about? Was it about girlfriends or politics?
I thought the only honourable thing Lawan should have done is not to deny the obvious, but to say those taped conversations were part of his plan to "play along" and catch Otedola red-handed. So Farouk Lawan needs to now come up with his own version of those conversations between himself and Otedola because Otedola has provided to the public his own version.
In any case, the endless search for dollars or the debate about voice on those tapes are most unnecessary. The law says what has been admitted needs no further proof. In other words, what the recovery of the dollars and the voices on the tape seek to establish has since been established by the confessional statement of Farouk Lawan himself; i.e. he had several discussions with Otedola on phone over the bribe money and he actually collected it.
I am aware that many Nigerians are not happy with the way Femi Otedola hobnobs with all governments in power (and perhaps gets undeserved business concessions by so doing), but in this instant case, whether you like Femi Otedola or hate him, by reporting the matter to the SSS (the law says the SSS has all the powers of Police Officers too) and going ahead to record the transaction between him and Lawan, Otedola did all that a responsible citizen under the circumstances should do. Whether the sting was thorough or not is no longer his business. By the way, the purpose of arresting someone whilst collecting bribe is to establish the fact that the suspect actually collected it. But the video has already established that fact.
Farouk Lawan has confessed to that fact. And in any case, no Nigerian would have believed the SSS or the Police if Farouk Lawan was arrested for any reason a few hours to the presentation of that report. If, for instance, Farouk had claimed he was forced at gun point to go to Otedola's house and then was arrested there, Nigerians would have believed him. In addition, Farouk Lawan would not have had the opportunity to perform the act for which the bribe was collected on the floor of the House the next day. But as it is, the
SSS allowed him to roast in his own stew. In my view, the SSS did perfectly well in this case.
The bare-faced denial by Farouk Lawan of his voice on those tapes, and the denial of his complicity despite these overwhelming evidence, gives the clear impression that we are dealing with a hardened, unrepentant crook who is like a thief caught with his hand in the cashbox, but still claims he was only checking the color of the money.
In Japan, such persons like Farouk Lawan would have committed what they call "hara-kiri".
In America and Europe, he would have resigned immediately from public office in shame and begged for forgiveness.
Unfortunately, here in Nigeria and aided by dubious hired goons, he continues to deny the obvious. What a shame!
As for the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, their so-called investigation of the scam is nothing but a laughable sham, a diversionary and disgraceful enterprise with a pre-determined end, an unconstitutional and illegal exercise and Nigerians must ignore it.
I issue this statement out of a deep love for my country over and above personal relationships. If we do not say things as we see them truthfully and honestly at such times when patriots are required to stand up and be counted because of friendships, personal or professional benefits, then we should not complain if our country and its critical institutions continue to collapse. In fact, after the oil subsidy probe and before the presentation of the Report, I was with one of the Committee members in London when Farouk Lawan called and the phone was handed over to me. We chatted a few minutes on the phone during which time I encouraged him to do a thorough job and thanked him for his efforts so far. But alas! He has let everybody and himself down.
Farouk Lawan must stop this dance of shame and save that House of whatever is left of its credibility by resigning from office immediately and face his criminal trial squarely. It is, indeed, himself and his hired goons that are turning this episode into a theatre of the absurd, and not the other way round.
Thank you.

Confirmed English Premier League Squad

Barclays Premier League clubs have submitted their squads for the remainder of the campaign.
A club's squad can contain no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the Home Grown Player criteria and the remainder of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be Home Grown.
The Premier League say: "A Home Grown Player means a player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21)."
Under-21 players, who were born on or after January 1 in 1990, are eligible over the 25-player limit which explains why the likes of David de Gea, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kyle Walker aren't named.

How the movie "Notebook" ended R.Kelly's Marriage

R. Kelly is blaming Ryan Gosling for ruining his marriage ... sorta ... and it's all because of R.G.'s performance in "The Notebook."

Kelly just revealed some incredibly personal secrets in his new memoir, "Soulacoaster" ... including an explanation about why he decided to divorce his former back up dancer Andrea Kelly back in 2009.

Long story short ... Kelly claims after watching the movie, he realized his own 12-year marriage couldn't stand up to the romance featured in the flick.

Here's the explanation in Kelly's own words:

"As the film credits started to roll, I couldn't move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. 'The Notebook' was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together.

But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine's Day -- when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses -- that had come and gone ... My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back."

Damn you, Gosling.
